Call To Order 8:33 am
Minutes/Warrants/Delegations
- Minutes not distributed due to a mix-up between Eric Kreckman & City Hall. In the future, Secretary will email minutes to City Hall & Airport Manager, Airport Manager will distribute minutes to the Commission Members
- Warrants 08-009 & 08-010 -8-011 approved for payment. Smith/Kreckman unanimous consent
- No Delegations present
New Business
- Car Update: Car sold for $350, however a $125 towing/repair bill was incurred prior to sale.
- Compass Rose: Gladwin Area Pilots Association to donate cost of paint for compass rose. Process involves a sealant/paint/sealant layering. Rose to be painted in the spring. The Ninety-Nines (women pilots organization) may be contacted to paint the rose Motion to spent up to $300 for sealant to protect the black base applied within the last month. Smith/Caffrey unanimous.
- Kelly Jost of C&S Engineering and formerly of MDOT/Aviation visited and presented her firm as a potential engineering vendor. C&S is based in Syracuse NY and has been in aviation engineering for 35 years. It's Michigan office (Novi) has been open for 6 years and has a 10 person aviation staff.
- Bob Moffit and Basil Bullard to present RFP (Request For Proposal) at November meeting.
Old Business
- Michigan Air Tour: 42 aircraft arrived September 28. Chairman Caffrey welcomed the Tour in person. Fliers impressed with our facility.
- Hangar & Ground Leases: Ready for execution.
- Lawn Mower: Still looked for a used riding mower. Basil Bullard contacted ACE regarding a 7 year old Ariens but we are unable to come to terms.
- Insurance Claim: Lightning Strike in the Summer of 2006 destroyed Radio. No news. Bob Moffit to contact Michigan Municipal League
- Hangar Construction: Potential to receive some funds back from construction. Laura at MDOT/Aviation to advise Basil Bullard by November meeting.
- Fencing Project: State requested proof of local match funds for the 4 year old fencing project. Chairman Caffrey forwarded receipts for the Fair Board's purchases of gates which more than accounted for the necessary matching funds.
- Electric Gate: Still erratic. Basil Bullard to investigate and seek repair
Manager's Report
- Fuel System: Written Approval from MDOT received. Latest expenditures on fuel system are still merely repairs. Our next substantial project is likely to be a new fuel system.
